Biography

Shabnam Inanloo Dailoo is an Assistant Professor, Heritage Resources Management in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies. She is also the Director of Historical Resources Intern Program.

Dr. Inanloo has extensive experience in heritage resources management theory and practice in Canada and internationally. She holds a PhD in Environmental Design from the University of Calgary where she researched the challenges of conservation of World Heritage Cultural Landscapes. Shabnam also holds a Certificate in Conservation of Built Heritage from ICCROM, an advisory body to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. During her Post-doctoral research with the Canada Research Chair on Built Heritage at Université de Montréal, Shabnam examined the application of values-based management in conservation of cultural landscapes.

Shabnam has been involved in projects related to heritage resources of diverse nature in different settings from buildings, archaeological sites to cultural landscapes and sacred places. She has extensive experience in working on Aboriginal cultural places and has researched Aboriginal worldviews and traditions. She has developed conservation, interpretation and presentation plans for historic places. Shabnam has published and presented on emerging concepts and new approaches to heritage conservation, and remains an active member of heritage community. Her research interests include heritage conservation theory, cultural landscape approach in historic districts and Aboriginal cultural places, values-based management, community engagement, interpretation of cultural places, and intangible cultural heritage.
